Angular Implantation

Prosthetic treatment of patients after total tooth loss or with moderate to severe periodontal disease has its own specifics.

We often face the challenge of alveolar ridge atrophy — in some cases, to the point of its complete absence.
Restoring the lost volume is possible, but it often involves excessive invasiveness and increased risk of complications.
Moreover, temporary prosthetics cannot be placed, as pressure on the grafted bone block is not allowed.

In such cases, the method of choice is angular implantation.

Prosthetics in these situations come with a specific nuance — the use of artificial gum. Should you be concerned about it? Will it look unnatural and reveal your crowns when you smile? Will it affect your speech? What if the gum recedes? If a crown breaks — will the entire prosthesis need to be replaced?

Let’s address these questions.
Let’s go step by step:

  1. You can see the smile aesthetics in the photos.
  2. Adaptation to the prosthesis begins during the temporary prosthetic phase. At first, you might have slight difficulty pronouncing certain sounds, and it may take some time (anywhere from 3 to 20 days). You might bite your cheek or tongue — that’s also fixable. Yes, it may take 1 to 3 visits to resolve such issues. After all, these are entirely new teeth.
  3. Adaptation to the permanent prosthesis is usually much quicker — typically within 2 to 5 days. Minor adjustments may be needed during the first 1 to 3 months. Preventive checkups are recommended every 6 months.
  4. Can the artificial gum recede? Slight atrophy may occur over time — usually after 5 years or more. The artificial gum in this prosthesis is made from composite material (similar to light-cured filling material), which allows for correction if needed.
  5. What if a tooth chips or breaks? Each crown in the prosthesis is made individually. So if a chip or fracture occurs, a single crown can be replaced without any problem.
